Your mileage and elevation will vary. We did not take the boat for any part of this. We went up to Crater Lake first in the hopes of visiting the Crater Peak Lookout site. However, the weather was really awful this first day so we gave up as so wet in the morning and needed to move on and find a place to dry our gear. Second day we were at Devil's Park shelter when it finally turned sunny so we spent a couple hours there drying things; then on - this day was tough as you drop a lot of elevation only to go right back up again. One of those drop sections was quite steep; the next up section we had read there was a nice campsite by a water source. We looked and looked - not much possibilities for camping after the shelter. On the next uphill most of the way when Dave was ready to give up and just take any spot, we camp to a ledge with a wonderful campsite. The next day we got to Devil's Dome. We had seen no-one during the whole hike until the Dome - lots of people camped up there. We rested there awhile but didn't want to be with a huge group of people so we continued down a mile or so and came to this wonderful campsite by a pool of water so we could get clean. It was fabulous - except buggy. Next day we dropped down to the lake and stayed at Rainbow Point. It was lovely there! Then we did 13 miles last day - last 3 of that trail were in bad shape, but we had to get back to Canyon Creek start point. It was a fabulous trip! Luckily, the section down to Rainbow Point had been recently logged out - this was in 2016.
