When I did it with a meetup group, the bridge over French Creek was still in so it was not a problem. Now you have to wait til creek level drops so you can wade it or try rock hopping. We saw no-one up there and tried to do a loop we saw on the map. It was doable but with a lot of wondering if we were on track (using physical map as GPS not that common then) and bashing through blowdown and incredibly overgrown trails. I heard that it has been cleared out sometime in the intervening years, but read trip reports that are recent if you can find them. This one tested our endurance for sure. We camped at the intersection. It was quite a nice campsite. There is no water on the ridge that I recall so if you wanted to camp up near site, you'd need to haul water or go up when there is still some snow. Views were great, but after all these years, I can't remember how large the flat spot was up there for camping. We loved the spot at the intersection. Two creeks/rivers on either side and a big spot for a group.
