The route up from highway is strenuous 9 miles with around 4000 gain with ups and downs. The road is sucky partway in for a substantial period; then gets better. We chose to drive in partway; then hike it as we wanted to be sure to have time to get to the site. I found some debris but hard to say if from a lookout or not.
