Destination Details for Mount Margaret

Central WA

I took the route from just beyond Snoqualmie Pass. There are other ways to do this. You will pass turn off for Lake Margaret; then in a contour area look for what has now become an obvious trail, but it is not signed. It goes off to the right and is quite steep as it is basically a bootpath and not an official trail. The views from the top are fabulous. There is enough room for a big group of people but barely. It is more popular than it used to be. I have camped at Twin Lakes and Lillian - lots of lakes along the main trail to explore. There is also the backdoor trail to Laura and up to Rampart Ridge and Lakes for lots of exploring. This one is not listed on FFLOS or Willhite's lists of sites. The only Margaret is the one near Snoqualmie. Eric found a mention of a lookout having been on Margaret in an old clipping referring to lookouts, but he has not found further evidence. It was likely just a camp.
