It seems to me there was a lot of room up there by the lookout if you wanted to camp. Driving to it was no picnic even with a CRV. The road was meant for jeep traffic. We dropped car off and hiked. I do think there was a gate at one point so you have to hike it. I am not sure how close you can get to it in the winter, but it might make a nice snowshoe trip. I remember really liking this lookout even though there wasn't much of a view as I recall - just a neat building.
