We did this in mid March with ice and snow on the second half. It was slushy making it a hard go the last mile. There is little view from the site itself - just a peek a boo of the Olympics, but there was a view of Rainier near the 2436 mark if you go straight instead of left for the lookout. Rumor is there are more views, but we found it to be mostly heavily wooded. You are not allowed to go on some ridges or the actual summit as it is in the watershed, but we could see from prints in the snow that people were going out the ridge below the site so there might be a view out there, but it is not permitted. Also, a report notes that there are views from the second tower - we never saw the second tower from the standard route to the lookout site.
