Destination Details for Colonel Bob Lookout

WA Coast

Mileage is roundtrip for the Colonel Bob trail. (See below for another option.) My friend and I did this as a backpack with my dog. The dog had some problems as the last mile is pretty rough. We camped just below that point in a meadow with water and went to the site at sunset. It was a glorious view! I wish we'd had more time up there. I assume you could do it as a snowshoe. 2025 July My husband and I revisited via the Pete's Creek Trail. It is 3500 gain and 8 miles roundtrip, but we did not find it an easy go due to trail condition - brushy, steep, rocky, rooty. The stats do not tell the full story of the challenge. Most people do it as a tough day hike, but we overnighted in the same spot with bear grass all around us. It was buggy - the only downside. Avalanche lilies and bear grass graced the meadow below the summit block. This is not a super popular trail. Saturday there were four other parties; Sunday there were 6-7.
