As of summer 2023, trail is closed due to fire damage. I've been to the lookout twice, and I told Dave I wanted to spend more time so we should get a permit for the camp below it so we did. We were the only ones in the camp, and we went to lookout and spent about three hours cooking our dinner and enjoying the views. It is magical up there and quite the workout. I did it as a day trip the first time when I was 20. My mom struggled a lot on the way down due to her knee, and I partially carried her the last half mile or so. I fell on the way down this second time and was banged up for awhile, but I still love that place. I'll likely visit again sometime. We only saw one other hiker up there.
