This is along the road up to Skyline Lake which I've only done as a snowshoe. My guess is you could backpack up there in the summer. It's not long, but parts of the road are pretty steep. We typically go up to the lake and on up the ridge and also out the ridge near the comm tower on way to lake - not the towers where lookout is but farther up. It's beautiful in snow.
